Meet the New MiniProto Configurator

It's live. The new MiniProto configurator launched today, and it is now the default way to design a custom wire harness or cable assembly with us.

We rebuilt it around one idea: you should be able to design the harness you actually want, see what it costs while you design it, and order it, all in the browser. One prototype or a production run, the flow is the same.

Design visually

Open the configurator and you get a canvas, not a form. Drop in connectors, cables, splices, junctions, and bundles, then wire them together the way the real harness goes together. Pick a connector family, then a pin count, then the exact part. Assign signals to pins and choose crimps as you go, so the design captures the details that matter at the build bench. Junctions and splices are first-class objects on the canvas too, so a branched harness looks like a branched harness instead of a parts list pretending to be one.

Priced while you build

Every change updates a real-time bill of materials and price. Add a part and the BOM picks it up instantly; no spreadsheet on the side, no waiting for a quote to find out what your idea costs. Quantity price-breaks and lead-time options are right there too, so you can weigh a one-off prototype against a production run without leaving the page.

Live pricing changes how you design, too. When you can see what a decision costs the moment you make it, you catch the expensive ideas while they are still easy to change.

From design to hardware

Save your projects and come back to them whenever. Load an old design, revise it, and when it is ready, add it to cart or push it straight to a quote. Either way, the thing you designed on the canvas is the thing our shop builds.

The new default

This replaces our older configurator as the default tool. The old approach served us well, but once you have designed a whole harness visually, with the price updating as you work, there is no going back. New designs happen here from now on.

If you have been sketching harnesses in slide decks and emailing screenshots to vendors, this replaces that whole loop. And if you already know your exact part numbers, it is even quicker: family, pin count, part, wired, priced.
